Creating your own library

EasyKitchen can be customized. And so that each new project is created with modules and elements already configured according to your standards. So you can significantly speed up the design of furniture or kitchens.

Customized modules can either be saved back to the library, replacing the old modules, or placed in a new folder. So you will have your own customized library. This way you can create multiple libraries. For example, separately for classic kitchens, separately for kitchens using the GOLA profile, etc.

There are two options for customizing the library for yourself - partial and full.

Partial library customization

This setting is done through the "Main Menu" component. It contains a large number of basic settings. You can change them and then click the "Apply" button. Then you need to re-save the current SketchUp template. You can read about how to do this in this article. After these manipulations, always select this template when starting SketchUp.

This setting does not apply to modules as soon as you check them out of the library. In order for the module to read parameters from the Main Menu, it must either be updated or some changes made to it. Then the parameters of the module that are connected to the Main Menu read the values from it and apply them to the module.

It is not necessary to update all modules. The report generation plugin updates all modules before generating a report. Accordingly, all changes made earlier to the Main Menu will be applied to all modules and elements.

Unfortunately, not all settings can be placed in the "Main Menu" component. If you need to configure the library more finely, then it is better to resort to a more painstaking and long, complete configuration. Despite the rather large scope of work, a full setup will save you from many unnecessary actions and checks, which will significantly reduce the time to create a project.

Full library customization

We recommend this setting. It allows you to cover all the nuances and get rid of unnecessary trouble. It is enough to do such a complete setup once, then use this library until you want to update it.

So, to make a complete customization, you need to start with the "Main Menu" component. First you need to configure it by changing all the settings for yourself. Then apply the changes and get the first module from the library.

Update the module using the dynamic "Redraw Module" button, or right-click on the module and select "Dynamic Components->Redraw". Then open the module parameters and make changes to the parameters that were not in the Main Menu.

Set your gaps, indents, the desired number of shelves. Modify the design by adding or removing unnecessary components. Also, you can immediately reconfigure the edge. To do this, use the "Layers (tags, labels)" window on the right side of the SketchUp screen. There you need to hide the ends and show the edge. You can read more about edge adjustment in this article.

Saving a customized module

After all changes have been made, the module must be saved back to the library or to a new folder. But you need to do this differently than you usually save a file! Right click on the module and select "Save As". This is how you need to save customized modules and elements.

For partial configuration via the Main Menu, it is not necessary to save the modules. For full customization, saving the module is required.
