EasyKitchen did not emerge as a startup with a business plan, but as a response to a real, practical challenge.
In 2015, while working in the custom furniture industry, I was constantly facing the limitations of popular furniture design software of that time, such as Basis and PRO100. Basis was primarily focused on calculations and construction, while PRO100 remained a simple, mass-market tool for sketch-based design. At the same time, both programs were heavy to work with and offered little to no capability for high-quality visualization. Meanwhile, visualization was gradually becoming a key factor in building client trust: people needed to see their future furniture as realistically as possible before production even began.
The search for an alternative started within furniture-specific software. I also tried other specialized solutions, including BCad and Kitchen Draw, but it quickly became clear that such programs addressed only a narrow range of tasks and lacked the required flexibility. It became obvious that the right tool had to be sought beyond traditional furniture software.
The next step was experimenting with universal 3D editors such as 3ds Max and Maya. Their capabilities were impressive, but for everyday furniture work they proved excessively complex: too steep a learning curve and too much unnecessary functionality for furniture design tasks.
The turning point came with discovering SketchUp. The program stood out thanks to its simplicity, logical interface, and lack of visual clutter. At the same time, it was powerful and easily extendable. I soon learned that SketchUp had a wide range of visualization plugins, including free ones. This made it possible to create photorealistic sketches that clients responded to with much greater interest. Their quality clearly surpassed the visualizations produced by most specialized furniture programs.
Over time, I became familiar with SketchUp’s dynamic components and purchased a ready-made furniture library. This significantly increased work speed and automation, but also revealed its limitations: complex logic, overloaded settings, a limited set of modules, and insufficient flexibility for real production tasks.
That was when the idea of creating my own library emerged — not as an experiment, but as a working tool I would personally want to use every day.
Gradually, the core principles of EasyKitchen took shape:
In 2017, this idea took shape as the EasyKitchen project. Since then, it has continued to evolve, remaining true to its original goal: to make furniture design faster, clearer, and more convenient.
