The EasyKitchen software has been expanded with a new type of panels for furniture design — panels with flexibly configurable cutouts.
The architecture of EasyKitchen allows you to create cutouts manually, but such cutouts are not dynamic. This means that when the size of a panel changes, those cutouts will also change their size and position. And this creates extra work, because you then have to manually restore the correct size and position of each cutout.
A vivid example:
You designed furniture for a client, added cutouts where needed for utilities and outlets, and then suddenly it turns out that the overall height must be changed. The client, for example, decided to install a stretch ceiling. Now you not only have to redesign all the furniture to match the new height, but all the cutouts will also shrink in size and shift lower…
This is exactly the kind of situation where the new panels with dynamic cutouts become useful, because they not only preserve the correct cutout size regardless of changes in the panel size, but also maintain the correct cutout position.
Available cutout shapes
Using parameters, you can create rectangular and oval cutout shapes. For a rectangular cutout, you can add corner rounding, and an oval can be turned into a circle by setting equal width and height values.
Also, if the cutout is no longer needed, you can disable it. In that case, the panel will look completely normal.
Cutout offset settings
Offset parameters for panels with cutouts offer incredible flexibility.
By default, they operate in auto-mode. This means they set equal distances from the cutout to all edges of the panel.
If you enter a numeric value into the parameter for one side, the cutout will shift so that the distance from it to the panel edge on that side matches the specified value.
If you also enter a numeric value for the opposite side, the cutout size will change so that the distance to that edge matches the parameter you set.
Here’s a clear example:
Suppose we have a panel that is 600 mm long. It has a cutout that is 400 mm long. The cutout is centered because the left and right offsets are in auto-mode. This means there are 100 mm on both the left and right from the cutout to the panel edges.
If you set the left offset to 50 mm, the cutout will keep its 400 mm length and simply shift left so that the distance from the panel’s left edge to the cutout is 50 mm. The right offset will automatically become 150 mm.
If you then set the right offset to 50 mm as well, the cutout length parameter becomes irrelevant. The cutout will grow to match the offset parameters. In this case, the cutout length will become 500 mm, and both the left and right offsets will be 50 mm.
Cutout size settings
You can set any required cutout size using the corresponding parameters. Just keep in mind that the cutout size parameters work as long as at least one side in a given direction is in auto-mode. This logic makes it possible to adjust not only the cutout size but also its position with great flexibility.
