How to make inset facades?

Sometimes it is required to make an inset facade. This is quite easy to do using the local parameters of the facade components.

If it is a door:

We go inside the main module by double-clicking on it and select the facade component.

Open the parameters window and find the section "Axis position". Here we are interested in exactly the indentation. These are the options:

- Indentation from above;

- Indent from the bottom;

- Indent on the left;

- Indent on the right;

- Indent in front.

Enter the thickness of the panels on the corresponding side into the indents you need, plus a gap to the facade. For example: to the right of the facade is a stand, 16 mm thick. The gap to the facade needs 2mm. So 16 + 2 = 18mm. Enter 18mm.

And so on each side, where the facade should recede from the surrounding panels.

Do not forget to specify the indentation in front! It usually equals the thickness of the facade.

We apply the parameters and the facade becomes inset.

If there are shelves in the compartment, then they also need to change the indentation in the front (I forgot to indicate this in the video).

If it is a drawer:

Here, everything is almost the same, except that at first only the indentation in the front is specified in the parameters of the drawer, then two times we go inside the drawer module to get to its facade. And already in the parameters of this facade we set the indentation on the sides (except for the indentation in front).

With these modifications, the formulas disappear in the edited parameters (you saw that some of them are marked with an asterisk *?). The module will work as it worked, there will be no displacements or deformation of the geometry, but communication with the main parameters will be lost. This means that when changing the thickness of all panels, the edited facades will not take this into account and it will be necessary to manually adjust the indents again.
